The role
As a Learning Support Coordinator/Academic Support Teacher, you will take on both roles, determining how best to allocate your time and efforts based on the needs of the school. This includes working as a Learning Support Coordinator and providing Academic Support for the primary school groups in the Dutch stream, ensuring your focus aligns with the areas where your expertise is most needed. Our school follows the IEYC and IPC frameworks, and our Learning Support emphasises a circular approach, including the DHH gifted program. We aim to tailor education to better meet our students' support needs while also providing greater challenges for those who require them. We are looking for a colleague who is enthusiastic and committed to working closely with our teaching and leadership team and contributing actively to the development of HIS.
Your responsibilities
As our Learning Support coordinator you:
support and coach teachers on educational innovation and professional development;
provide systematic support to teachers in classroom management and instructional and pedagogical practices;
implement support measures in preschool and primary school;
leading meetings, giving presentations, preparing reports, participating in progress discussions, and conducting support conversations.
As our Dutch Academic Support Teacher you:
establish intensive collaboration between teacher, parents, and student in creating and implementing action plans;
focus on the children’s learning process and working in a goal-oriented way;
think action-based, analysing test data, and translating these into learning goals and structured support actions
have worked with student monitoring system(s) and able to work with Google Suite;
can give support to the children on level 3; with specialisation in dyslexia and dyscalculia.
We are looking for a team player who is positive, resilient under pressure, flexible, optimistic, and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a good sense of humor.
You have
Full qualifications to teach in primary education.
Bachelor and/or Master qualifications in ‘intern begeleider’, Academic Support Teaching (‘Remedial Teacher’), or ‘SEN Begeleiden’ (Special Educational Needs Support).
At least 4 years’ experience teaching young children/ primary groups with the Dutch or Belgian curriculum.
Recent experience as a Learning Support Coordinator.
Experience with action-based and outcomes-focused teaching based on group action plans and learning outcomes.
Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
Strong general IT knowledge, specifically Google Suite and Apple.
You are passionate about this wonderful profession and constantly work to improve student learning and you are innovative and open to change, contributing proactively to new developments.
We offer you
A contract from 1 June 2025 until 31 July 2028 (potential for renewal).
